I'll be in Hong Kong for 3 Months...
Hello everyone:
I'll be travelling again this Friday, this time, to Hong Kong for almost 3 months. So, I may not have time to write a lot of stuff here. I will also be attending the Cantonese Opera Festival to be held in Quangdong in November, (I'll post some pictures later).
In the meantime, let me dedicate the following song to you all. This is one of my favourite songs of all time. It's call "Come Softly To Me" by The Fleetwoods. This group formed in the '50s, before the days of The Beatles. It is amazing that they sound pretty much the same even after 50 years.
Gary Troxel and Gretchen Christopher, were 2 students waiting for their parent(s) to pick them up after school. They started humming a song together, and later they asked Gretchen's friend, Barbara Ellis, to join them as a trio, and called themselves, The Fleetwoods.

Sophia Loren - All Italian Woman; Lean On Me - Lean On Leaning Tower of Pisa
Lean On Me By Bill Withers
This is the Leaning Tower of Pisa - it really deosn't stand upright on the ground. However it's not that tall either - about 7 - 8 storeys tall only! It does give the impression that it is about to fall...

A lot of tourists hold up their hands to support this Leaning Tower when they take pictures of this world famous tower. That's puzzling!

Italian men are so charming and flirty at the same time. Italian women are so dedicated to either their family and to their jobs, just like our tour guides - they wasted no time to introduce the Italy they know to us and they did it with such a passion. Italian film star Sophia Loren is one of them - she dedicates her whole life to her family and to her film career.

I had to remove the old movie posters...
I am sorry to say that I had to remove the old movie posters (all 60+ of them received from Anthony) because the file has slowed down this blog. However, I have moved the file to "My Page for Oldies" on the right hand side. Just go to the page and click the file open to view the posters. Enjoy!

Come Back To Sorrento!
Sorrento is a beautiful little town near Naples. No wonder people sing "Come Back To Sorrento" - I wouldn't mind going back there to live for a few months, not only because of the nice weather, but for its efforts in maintaining the old classical outlook. There are many small shops that operate as if they were still in the Middle Ages, from display to merchandise. There are no mega shops such as The Walmart, The Future Shop, etc. Not that many cars either because most people ride on mopeds!
First look at the beautiful pictures I took in Sorrento then listen to Pavarotti and Meat Loaf sing the song:

Rome - Michelangelo and other landmarks
Copy of David at Palazzo Vecchio

Michelangelo's most famous works were the Pieta and the David which he sculptured before he was 30. I could only view his Pieta at St. Peter because Michelangelo's David was at Academia Gallery in Florence which I did not have a chance to visit. I only saw the best copy of the David standing in the original location of the David, at the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence.
Michelangelo was not a painter, yet he created two of the most influential works in fresco in the history of Western art: the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling and The Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. Unfortunately, they don't allow us to take pictures inside the Chapel. Michelangelo also designed the dome of St. Peter's Basilica and made himself a well-known architect as well.
